A global Church
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark is part of a global Christian fellowship. Our involvement in and commitment to the global Church finds a concrete expression in memberships of national and international organisations. The majority of these organisations are interdenominational or ecumenical. This means that member churches are not all Lutheran but may be Roman Catholic, Methodist, Anglican, Baptist, etc.
The Council of International Relations
The Council of International Relations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark is responsible for contact to other Christian churches as well as management of church membership of international and national ecumenical fellowships. Visit the website of the Council of International Relations to learn more.
Five international fellowships and a national council
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark is a member of the World Council of Churches, The Lutheran World Federation, the Conference of European Churches, the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe and the Porvoo Communion. Each fellowship has a number of focus areas, e.g. humanitarian aid, interfaith relations, mission, reconciliation, poverty, etc. For more information about the five fellowships see the section on Faith and church order. At a national level cooperation between denominations is organised in the National Council of Churches in Denmark (Danske Kirkers Råd).
