The Danish State Archives have both online services and Reading Rooms in Copenhagen.

To search for a person in the archives, some basic information is required. This is due to the nature of the records.

How to find information

Parish Registers and Population Censuses have been digitized and are accessible for free.

 

Good to know

Danish names, old handwriting and genealogy terminology can turn out to be a challenge in searching the records.
